Police are investigating at least eight robberies throughout Milwaukee.
They happened between midnight and 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators said they were working to learn which heists are connected.
Four robberies each happened in Districts 4 and 5.
A gunshot was fired at the scene of one robbery near South 3rd and West Mineral streets.
A witness reported seeing two young men, crouched behind a porch, before they ambushed and attacked a mother and daughter.
They said they were returning home from late night errands.
"(They) came racing through in between the cars with a gun point straight at me, and said 'give me the (expletive) keys...' (They) came up, tried to grab the keys, grabbed my purse," Amber Smith said. "I fought him. I said, 'No, you're not taking my keys. You're not taking my purse.' The next I know, the base of the gun, he smacked it in the back of my head and knocked me down."
The men got away with her purse.
Smith suffered a concussion and a chipped tooth.
She received stitches at the hospital.
Her mom, Barb Pond, said she refused to hand over her purse and fought with the suspects.
"I'm mad more than anything," she said. "You don't just go into somebody's life and take things that they work for. You just don't do that. They showed up around here and came into our life, now we're going to be in their life. (Police are) going to find them. And we're going to be in their life, and I'm going to be their worst nightmare."
Pond walked away with only a few scratches.
The two were upset neighbors didn't come to their rescue.
Police have made two arrests and are seeking a third person of interest.
