Firefighters believe an electrical wire sparked a fire at a home early Tuesday.

Jones County Fire Marshal Tim Pike says flames broke out at a home on Greentown Road in Trenton around 9 a.m.

Pike says two people were inside when the carport attached to the house caught fire. He says he believes it was caused by a faulty electrical wire.

It took crews from two departments about 30 minutes to put out the blaze.

Both people inside were able to safely escape the home.

The fire remains under investigation.
