State lawmakers will return to Raleigh next week to consider measures to help with Hurricane Florence relief.

House Speaker Tim Moore says lawmakers will convene on Tuesday for a special session.

Among things to be considered would be making changes for school calendars requirements. Several Eastern Carolina school systems remain closed because of hurricane damage and educators are concerned about having to make up all those lost days of instruction.

Other items on the list would be accommodations for educator pay, sales tax deadlines, and federal relief funding.

The state says it has a record $2 billion emergency reserve fund for natural and economic disasters.
