AUGUSTA (WJBF) – An Augusta home is destroyed after an early morning house fire. It broke out just after 3 am Friday at 3326 Wheeler Road.

When our crew arrived there were flames shooting through the roof. Augusta Fire confirms the woman and man were in the front yard with burn injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

A Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputy says a woman pulled a man out of the building. Firefighters contained the fire in about 40 minutes.

It is believed the fire started in the garage and spread into the house. The building suffered heavy damage.

No word on what caused the fire. An investigation is underway.
