UPDATE: Chief Deputy Blanchard with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the accident on the 4900 block of River Rd. at 3:58 a.m.
28-year-old Gregory Wingrove of Augusta was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
32-year-old Johnny Weintraub of Aiken was driving a 2010 Honda Accord. He was conscious on the scene and was taken to Augusta University Medical Center where he died at the hospital.
Both Wingrove and Weintraub worked at Vogtle. One employee was leaving work while the other was headed in for the next shift.
BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – One person is dead after a head-on collision on River Road in Burke County.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
The wreck happened around 4:00 a.m. October 14 between Ben Hatcher Road and Highway 80.
Expect delays in the area.
A cause of the wreck has not been determined.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
