JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi State Department of Health held a news conference Friday to discuss the immediate risk of measles exposure in Mississippi.

Officials said a Tennessee man with measles traveled through Hattiesburg and could have exposed it to others.

The person traveled to two locations on April 9 and April 10.

On April 9, the person was inside of Subway at Circle K located on Highway 11, from 2 pm until 4 pm.

On April 10, the person was inside of Raisin Cane’s on Hardy Street from 10 until 11 pm.

Officials emphasized adults vaccinated “should be good.” If you believe you are having symptoms or you have been exposed, call the emergency room or your physician before seeking care.

The infectious period of having measles occurs four days before a rash pops up. If someone does contract measles, they would have an incubation period of 7-21 days
