A 3-year-old has died after her uncle reportedly slit her throat in Clinton County, Kentucky, Saturday.
According to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, Josephine Bulubenchi was attacked by a family member at a home on Beaty Creek Road in Albany.
Authorities told News 2 the little girl’s father heard her screaming over a baby monitor around 2:45 a.m.
Bulubenchi’s father reported his brother-in-law, Emanuel Fluter, was in the child’s bedroom and that he was armed with a knife. The toddler’s father was cut when he grabbed the knife away.
According to the sheriff, the 3-year-old’s family rushed her to the hospital.
Bulubenchi was taken to University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital where she died Sunday around 5 p.m.
Fluter has been charged in the attack. He is reportedly Josephine’s uncle and had been living with the family for a few months.
Four other children were in the room where the 3-year-old was attacked. They were not hurt.
Fluter is charged with assault, murder and four counts of wanton endangerment. His bond is set at $500,000.
