A man is dead after being hit by a train in Lincoln County.

The Lincoln County Coroner says the victim 48-year-old Scott Boyd.

Deputies say they got a call that a pedestrian had been hit by a train just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

According to the coroner, Boyd was walking northbound on the Northern Suffolk railroad tracks in the Bowen area off Hwy. 127, when he was hit by a southbound train.

The engineer on the train reportedly told investigators he saw Boyd on the edge of the track but was unable to stop the train.
