Wood Village Apartments tenants starting to see changes they’ve been hoping for
The apartment complex is now under new management
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - New information is in regarding a 3 On Your Side exclusive.
Monday, we showed you the terrible living conditions of some tenants at the Wood Village Apartments in Jackson.
As of Tuesday morning, inspection notices had been posted throughout the complex, which is now under new management. This comes a day after tenants shared images and video of mold on the floors and in the walls, as well as toilets and bathtubs that had been backed up for days.
Synetra Mcnair said that when she woke up Tuesday morning, she thought she was seeing things.
“I have never seen that many maintenance guys out here," she said. “Running around and picking up garbage and trash from all around the apartment complex and trying to get things fixed up for the inspection they got coming tomorrow."
We have now received an email from a city code inspector stating, in part: “We found several violations relating to sewer backup, pest control, water leak and fire code violations. The original property manager quit and abandoned the property this morning.”
He added that a regional manager and property manager from Montgomery are in town, and a hotel has been booked for one of the tenants featured in our Monday night report.
A plumbing and environmental service has been called in and 3 On Your Side will give you a status update tomorrow.
