Amid recent Louisville restaurant closures, Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse in it 'for the long haul'
Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse in downtown Louisville isn't going anywhere.The owner of the steakhouse said while the past few months have been "tremendously challenging" due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Ruby emphasized that "we are in this for the long haul.""Unfortunately, many businesses were forced to close their doors permanently. We are not one of them. Our Louisville team is focused. Our Louisville business is sound. And our Louisville resolve is stronger than ever. Thanks to your loyal support, we were able to reopen, and we are staying open," Ruby said in a statement.In recent weeks, several restaurants have announced COVID-19-related closures, including in downtown Louisville. Dish on Market announced in July it was shutting down due to recent COVID-19 restrictions.Rye on Market in NuLu was another restaurant that shut down.Some of the recent closures have occurred after Kentucky decided to re-enforce some COVID-19 restrictions due to a spike in cases and hospitalizations.It's unclear how much of an impact the recent standalone bar shutdown and reduction in capacity for restaurants had on Louisville's businesses.Ruby said in his statement that he's made several contributions to area groups to help support the industry and community. The steakhouse owner said he's looking forward to celebrating the restaurant's 15th anniversary next year.
