WEBVTT MORGAN: FROM AN UNASSUMING SIGN OUTSIDE THE OLD HILLTOP THEATER TO BRIGHT BULBS AND ORNATE MOLDING INSIDE. >> SO THE FIRST DECISION THAT WE HAD TO MAKE WAS WHETHER OR NOT WE WERE GOING TO KEEP THE BAR. MORGAN: JAY GULICK AND HIS TEAM TRIED TO MODERNIZE A BUILDING, BUILT IN 1905, WHILE PRESERVING AND PROTECTING ITS PAST. >> IT’S SCARY, YOU KNOW, TO DO SOMETHING THAT’S COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BOX IN TERMS OF BEING THE KIND OF OFFICE THAT WE HAD BEFORE AND GOING TO THIS. >> REALLY COMPARTMENTALIZED AND CHOPPY, WHICH NOW THIS IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF THAT. MORGAN: THE SPACE WAS ONCE HOME TO A MOVIE THEATER, THEN THE RESTAURANT RED HERRING WHICH OPENED IN 2017. BUT AFTER ITS CLOSING LAST YEAR, KENTUCKY SELECT PROPERTIES PURCHASED THE BUILDING. >> WHERE WE WERE BEFORE WAS WH YOU’D EXPECT A TYPICAL OFFICE BUILDING TO BE.
