Hundreds of volunteers gather in West Louisville participate in three-day 'Home Blitz'
Hundreds of volunteers gathered in the West Louisville neighborhood for a building blitz.
The Fuller Center for Housing teamed up with Crossroad Ministries to build three new homes for families in need. Friday served as day two of the three-day building binge.
As part of the program, the new homeowners will have to complete service hours and go through an extensive training to teach them how to be responsible financially and how to successfully maintain the home.
Brianna Carey, who was one of the recipients of the new homes praised the training she received from the program.
"Every part of this journey has been a learning experience for me. From the time that I got into the program I've had to take education classes which teaches me how to finance, how to budget how to save and the maintenance aspect teaches me how to take care of the home," Carey said.
The three-day blitz build ends Saturday and all the homes will be built and drywall-ready on that day.
