AT FRIDAY NIGHT’S PRIDE PARADE, MORE FLOATS THAN EVER BEFORE, AND MORE PEOPLE. LAST YEAR, KENTUCKIANA’S PRIDE FESTIVAL DREW ABOUT 20,000. At Friday night's pride parade there were more floats than ever before -- 120, according to organizers -- and more people. Last year, the Kentuckiana Pride Festival drew about 20,000 spectators. This weekend's events are expected to draw 27,000.Sherry Merrell, who made the trip from Evansville, Indiana tells WLKY she finds the city welcoming."Louisville people treat you awesome. I went to the Derby here. It was a great experience. I wanted to come to Pride and so far it's been wonderful," Merrell said.It translates into a larger than ever economic impact- just shy of $1 million, according to the Louisville Visitors Center."It starts small and keeps getting bigger and bigger, and the main reason is because Louisville is so welcoming," said Susan Pass, with Louisville Tourism.The Kentuckiana Pride Festival continues Saturday at the Big 4 Lawn, from noon to 11 p.m.
