Kentucky State Police chase ends in crash near UofL campus
Kentucky State Police are investigating after a police pursuit ended in a crash near the University of Louisville campus.
Police said a chase involving a 2019 Dodge Charger rental car originated in KSP Post 5's area Sunday and ended on the I-65 south ramp from Eastern Parkway.
The vehicle was seen traveling at very high speeds on I-71, and failed to stop for a state trooper. After a short pursuit, the vehicle struck a curb and crashed.
The suspects were then arrested following a short foot pursuit. Officers identified the duo as Ashlee M. Barcello-Frytek, 26, and Tyler T. Striggles, 18, both from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Officials say they are potential suspects in numerous thefts, vehicle break-ins, and fraud cases across multiple states. Both were arrested and taken to Metro Corrections on multiple charges including fleeing police and possession of a controlled substance.
No officers were injured in the chase.
The investigation is ongoing.
