A youth football coach in Louisville said Christopher Fields, 15, was his fourth player to die from gun violence in the past four years. "How can this keep happening to these kids who are just young men, not even getting their lives started?" Lamont Griffin said. "These are our future leaders that are getting gunned down and taken from our society way too early."Griffin said he coached Fields on the Germantown Thoroughbreds, a youth football team in Louisville. "He didn't care about scoring touchdowns, as long as his team won, he was happy," Griffin said. "He was the kid who would make the big tackle or make the big block for his teammates." "In the two years I was with him, he touched my life enough to where it's hurting me," Griffin said. Griffin said his players Troyvonte Hurt, Logan Carey and Devin Sesay were all teammates of Fields and have all been victims of gun violence. "Some way, we have to teach our kids that violence isn't the way," Griffin said. "It hurts us whenever we lose these kids. I go to every one of their funerals and just try to be there as much as I can for the moms."No one has been arrested in connection to Fields' death.
