Students at Willow Elementary School in Lansing got some extra help learning about healthy living this morning from members of the Detroit Lions.

They visited the school for a program called “Building Healthy Communities”,  which is designed to help curb childhood obesity.

The program also features games, contests and giveaways.

“It’s important for us as an organization because we see the value in making sure that we’re using our platform of football, our platform with the Lions, to help impact kids on a daily basis,” explained Chris Fritzsching, Detroit Lions Director of Football Education. “And, that’s why we’re excited to be here today because we have the opportunity, we believe, to make an impact on a hundred, two hundred kids here today.”

This is the tenth year for the “Building Healthy Communities” program.
