Indiana State Police have cited a semitruck driver for driving a truck that was more than 96,000 pounds overweight.On Thursday, Trooper Eric Thumb located a semitruck pulling double trailers in Rushville, Indiana.The trooper conducted an inspection on the truck and discovered Gene Maag, 36, was driving the truck without a registration plate. The driver also had no federally required company markings or federal tax numbers on the truck, police said.Thumb weighed the truck and found it to be 176,300 pounds. Police said the maximum weight allowed for a commercial vehicle in Indiana, without a special permit, is 80,000 pounds, making Maag's truck 96,300 pounds overweight.Police fined Maag $14,000 for the overweight truck. Maag was also issued a warning for not having federally required markings on the side of the truck.According to police, the truck, which was traveling from Butler, Indiana, to Madison, Indiana, was impounded. The steel coils on the truck had to be properly unloaded from Maag's truck and loaded onto other trucks.
