Miami University joins Ohio State, Xavier in decision to return to campus for fall semester
Miami University students will be returning to campus for the fall 2020 semester.
According to President Gregory P. Crawford, students will return to campus on Aug. 17, which is one week earlier than the originally scheduled return date.
Students will complete all classes before Thanksgiving break and take final exams remotely.
"After reviewing our academic calendar and considering scenarios to provide the highest probability of a full and healthy semester on campus, we determined that eliminating travel back and forth to campus at Thanksgiving is the best option for the safety and health of our students and their families, and for our faculty and staff," Crawford said.
The university is making changes needed to meet public health measures. Those include face cove covering and social distancing requirements.
Miami University joins The Ohio State University and Xavier University in the decision to resume in-person classes in August.
Xavier University will be shifting its semester forward to begin classes Aug. 17, instead of the previously scheduled start date of Aug. 24. Move-in and orientation for all new students will be held the week of Aug. 10.
The University of Cincinnati said it will make its decision later this month.
