Dover man facing numerous drug charges

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Dover man Wednesday after it was learned that he was distributing illegal drugs within the Capital Park community.

The charges stem from a drug investigation involving 35-year-old Dewayne Bordley. Officials say a narcotics search warrant was executed at his residence, located in the 200 block of S. Governor’s Avenue, and seized a 9mm handgun, numerous rounds of assorted handgun ammunition, three dosage units of a schedule 2 controlled substance, alprazolam, 2.8 grams of cocaine, 2.6 grams of marijuana, and more than $300 in suspected drug money.

Police say Bordley initially resisted arrest, but was eventually taken into custody. There was reportedly a juvenile present at the home during the search, and the Delaware Office of Animal Welfare was called in after a deceased dog was found on the property.

Bordley was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm/destructive weapon within 10 years of prior conviction of any felony (two counts), 2nd offense possession with intent to manufacture, deliver a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $27,001 secured bond.
