Drug bust at Dover motel leads to four arrests

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police and Delaware Probation and Parole arrested four people on drug charges following a search of a motel room Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the incident began as a traffic stop involving three people. During the stop, 47-year-old Keith Landry was found to be in possession of a .22 caliber gun, while 60-year-old Andre Wright was found in possession of 3.4 grams of marijuana, and 44-year-old Warren Coverdale had 16 bags on heroin. All three were subsequently taken into custody.

Following the stop, officers conducted a search of a motel room at the Kent Budget Motel, finding 2.3 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy) and drug paraphernalia. 23-year-old Vernell Taylor was located in the hotel room and also arrested. Police say two children were also inside the room at the time of the search, but were turned over to another family member.

Landry was charged with possession of a firearm by person prohibited, possession of ammunition by person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver MDMA, second degree conspiracy, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $42,100 bond.

Taylor was charged with possession with intent to deliver MDMA, second degree conspiracy, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and drug paraphernalia, but was later released on her own recognizance.

Coverdale was released on a $700 unsecured bond on possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and local fugitive charges.

Wright was issued a civil violation for possession of marijuana and released.
