Dover man sentenced in drug investigation

DOVER, Del. – A Dover man who was arrested following a drug investigation back in January has been sentenced.

In late January, members of the Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit and Kent County Governor’s Task Force saw the target of the investigation, 26-year-old Javon Young, driving a car that he sold the drugs from. It was also known that Young did not have a drivers license.

Police tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Young refused to stop and instead led police on a chase. Young collided with a police cruiser a short time later.

He was found in possession of 185 bags of heroin, as well as approximately 19 grams of marijuana, 0.50 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and more than $400 in suspected drug money. He pleaded guilty to charges of drug dealing, drug dealing a counterfeit controlled substance, and disregarding a police officer back in May.

He was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by one year of either work release or home confinement, then one year of probation. He was also fined $575.
