MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (OSBORNE) -- Tennessee exports are down for the second quarter in a row and will likely fall during the current quarter as well.
Middle Tennessee State University Economist Steven Livingston says 3Q exports fell a whopping $500 million, a six percent decline over the same quarter last year.
Livingston says every nearly every export category was off badly, including Tennessee’s signature whiskeys.
“The thing that really struck me from the third quarter is that whiskey exports to the UK went from 43 million (dollars) for the quarter in 2018 to one million (dollars) last quarter.”
Livingston says preliminary numbers for the 4th quarter indicate the fall off in exports will continue.
