Police are investigating a shooting on Middle Street in Augusta near the intersection with Cross Street.
Police received several reports of gunfire at about 8:30 Thursday evening. When officers arrived, they learned that at least two vehicles may have been involved and that both left the area before police got there.
One person, later identified as 32-year-old Martin Winn of Pittston, was treated for a gunshot wound at the Alfond Center For Health in Augusta. He was expected to survive.
Police said they think everyone involved knew each other in some capacity, but they were still trying to gather all the details. They also said they believed there were multiple vehicles and people involved.
