It's a controversial question, and one presidential candidates face on the first-in-the-nation primary trail: Who makes better maple syrup, Vermont or New Hampshire?
That question was posed to candidates in WMUR's "Candidate Café" series, in which presidential candidates chat with New Hampshire voters in a casual setting.
Democratic candidates Andrew Yang, Tulsi Gabbard and Bernie Sanders were asked their thoughts on the topic of syrup.
Yang talked about how his family has been enjoying a gift of New Hampshire syrup they recently received, spreading it on pancakes and non-pancakes alike.
Gabbard talked about how she enjoyed her first visit to a sugar shack in Freedom, New Hampshire.
Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, rejected the premise of whether Vermont or New Hampshire syrup is better, instead telling a story of how much he enjoyed maple syrup as a child.
