Outside of the event, a few animal rights activists gathered to protest trapping. They say the practice is cruel and should be outlawed in the state.“There's been incidences where they will gnaw off their limb in order to free themselves. You could have a mother animal who's been trying to get back to her pups in a den, so it's just cruelty all around,” said Joan O'Brien of the New Hampshire Animal Rights League.
