Race weekend is back in Loudon, although it is different than in years past with new procedures in place to keep everyone safe.
Fans thought this race day may never happen due to the ongoing pandemic. With fan capacity limited to 20%, or about 12,000 people, New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials said that is enough to space fans out in the grandstands.
Temperature checks were made at the speedway’s entrances. Masks are required when not seated and signs are posted encouraging people to keep their distance from one another.
“All concession purchases, all the souvenir purchases are cashless. It’s credit card only,” NHMS spokesperson Scott Cooper said.
Speedway officials said they are necessary adjustments for the time we live in, to make sure everyone is staying safe while having fun.
"We don't quite have the crowd that we normally would have for the magic mile, but it's fantastic for us to put on a race event and to actually host fans to come back to a sport that they love," Cooper said.
Foxwoods Resort Casino and the New Hampshire Motor Speedway announced an extension of their partnership to 2021. So, race weekend will be back next year as well.
