Police in Brattleboro, Vermont were searching for a vehicle with New Hampshire plates after a report that a man approached a 9-year-old child and offered him a ride to school.
Police said the child was walking on Cedar Street on his way to Green Street School around 7:30 a.m. Monday morning.
The child told officers when he told the man he didn’t know “no,” the driver said, “I have candy”.
The child then ran away and got to school safely, according to police.
Officers said there was no information that the man got out of his vehicle, made any attempt to grab the child or make any threatening statements.
The man is described as white, in his mid-50s, with curly brown hair, grayish sideburns and a brown beard. He was wearing a leather jacket.
The vehicle is described as a dark-color Nissan sedan with New Hampshire plates, with a red, white and blue punisher sticker on the drivers’ side rear bumper.
