Fundraiser has already raised thousands of dollars

A Portsmouth woman is now being treated in Boston after police say she was hit by a driver and left in the street.Julia West’s family says they are so focused on her well-being and road to recovery that they have no space for anger right now.But they are calling on that driver to step forward.West is now at Massachusetts General Hospital; her family says she's mostly kept unconscious to make sure she's comfortable.“Julia’s just an amazing girl. She’s just bright, she’s funny, she’s very smart. Musician, loves music, just absolutely loves music,” West's father, David West, said. “We’re not angry right now. We’re grieving a little too much to be angry, but we are asking that if anybody knows anything, or even if whoever did this has any ounce of compassion, that they would come forward,” David West said.“I don’t remember her ever not being around. I’ve never had to do anything without her before. This is really, really hard,” Julia West's sister, Lauren West, said.“She’s got a lot of injuries that she’s obtained from all this,” David West said. Her injuries include facial fractures and a broken arm and broken left leg that both need surgery. She also suffered lacerations to her face and torso.“We’re lucky that somebody found her minutes after and reported that and called it in,” Lauren West said.To that person, the Wests are so grateful.“Thank you. That’s all we can say because that was the hardest thing for us. Just thinking about her laying there alone,” David West said.Friends and family are getting by with prayers and support. Lauren West says they are receiving so much love because of who Julia West is as a person.“She’s a wonderful person. She’s done a lot for a lot of people, and it’s really hard to see her like this,” Lauren West said.An online fundraiser for Julia West has already raised thousands of dollars.
