WANTED man George Forsyth "will probably get to the summer before reviewing" Worcester City's offer of a contract lasting until the end of next season.

The 22-year-old midfielder or defender is the subject of a third approach in little more than two months with Ilkeston Town, leaders of City's league, the latest to make a move.

Manager John Snape last week spoke of his desire to secure Forsyth's long-term future and a deal lasting until the summer of 2019 was tabled over the weekend.

The ex-Wolves youngster, who will be free to speak to Ilkeston from today (Thursday), hinted at staying put for the rest of the season but wants to keep an open mind about what happens beyond that.

"I am in no rush. I am focusing on my football and will probably get to the summer before reviewing it," said Forsyth.

"I don't want to sign and then not adhere to it. If I do sign then I will be committed and focused on getting Worcester promoted.

"The gaffer, the chairman and Ash (Vincent, assistant manager) have all been great and it is a fantastic offer but I will take my time.

"Like anyone else I want to play higher and am open to offers, not just from other clubs but Worcester as well.

"If I stayed I would want to win the league, I wouldn't want to be mid-table.

"There are a few things I have spoken to the gaffer about but the main thing for now is to keep playing and focus on my football.

"This is not me saying I am leaving. There is a strong possibility I will stay but I don't want to tie myself down.

"I understand the gaffer is trying to look after the club, getting someone signed shows they are trying to build something but I don't want to sign and then end up asking to go in the summer. That was a problem we had this season.

"The gaffer has been very open and good about it. He said to take my time and I really appreciate the club showing this much trust in me.

"I owe the gaffer a lot for giving me an opportunity when no one else wanted me 18 months ago as well.

"I have been loyal to the club and plan to carry on helping Worcester City to finish the season strongly."

Snape said: "We are doing our best to keep George, he is a key part of our plans which we have made clear many times.

"This club's future is being built on developing younger players and while he is a very important part of the first team George still very much fits into the bracket.

"He is improving all the time and a great role model for those coming through. We very much want him to be a part of our future."
