A CENTURY from Tom Goodwin helped Old Elizabethans overcome high-flying Astwood Bank in Worcestershire League Premier Division.

Goodwin hit two sixes and 12 fours on his way to 101 off 121 balls. He was ably supported by Raminda Arachchige (56) and Richard Gardiner (49) as OEs chased down the Banks’ total of 275-9 to earn a three-wicket win.

The Banks are second behind Redditch who were also stunned. Young Stourbridge opener Jujhar Johal posted 119 not out to seal the points by a comfortable seven-wicket margin.

Chaddesley Corbett beat Pershore by three wickets at Longmore to stay in third place.

Elsewhere bottom club Evesham’s match against Bewdley was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

In Division One, Worcester Nomads walked away from last week’s leaders Colwall with a 42-run win.

Guy Davies (4-30) starred with the ball before a half century from Ollie Ranscombe sealed victory at Stowe Lane. Hagley took full advantage to leapfrog Colwall into top spot courtesy of a win over Pedmore.

Droitwich Spa suffered a two-wicket home defeat to Burghill, Tillington and Weobley who climbed to third.

Bromsgrove’s clash with Astwood Bank seconds was among three Division Two matches to be called off due to the wet weather.

A half century from captain Marcus D’Oliveira (51) ensured Ombersley seconds remained on top with a win at Himley seconds.

Third-placed Barnt Green seconds kept themselves in the hunt for promotion as they beat Kidderminster by 51 runs at Chester Road.

Netherton won a hotly-contested match at Kempsey by just six runs to stay top of Division Three.

Old Hill seconds’ total of 277-1 courtesy of Thomas Genders (141) and Iftikar Ali (109) proved too much for basement side Pershore seconds.

The win saw Old Hill move up to joint third with Martley who lost out to Barnards Green seconds in a rain-reduced match at Jewry Field.

Four matches fell foul to the weather in Division Four. Stourport seconds beat Bewdley seconds to rise to second while Worcester seconds climbed two places to third after beating lowly Halesowen thirds.

The rain also wreaked havoc in Division Five with only two matches contested.

West Malvern moved within two points of leaders Lye seconds after claiming a 39-run win over their promotion rivals.

Chris Mole scored 118 not out as Chaddesley Corbett seconds defeated struggling Droitwich Spa seconds to go third.
