WORCESTER Swimming Club finished second in a keenly-contested PGL League final on Saturday.

Eight teams fought it out over 62 events with Pershore taking the crown thanks to total of 312 points.

Worcester bagged second by the closest of margins, 277 points being enough to see off Evesham and Oldbury who both finished one behind on 276 each. Bromsgrove finished fifth with 275.

There were six event winners in Worcester's side with Milo Reed claiming the boys' 13-14 100m individual medley

Olivia Odell won the girls' 11-year-old 50 free in 38.26, while team-mate Libby Nawarycz stormed to victory in the 12’s 50 free in 33.72.

The 9s brought the most success with Harry Pickup winning the 25m freestyle in a nail-biting finish, Evie Goodall claiming first in the 25m breaststroke by 0.01 of a second and the mixed 4x25m freestyle team of Lucas Pedley, Hanna Duncan, Oliver Copson and Evie Goodall charging home to record the club’s only victory in the relays.
