OCEANA, WV (WVNS) — As a funeral procession passed through the town of Oceana in Wyoming County, a special moment was captured through a photo.

Tonjia Ray-Tompkins, who posted the photo to Facebook, said the trooper led the funeral procession, blocked off traffic, then got out of his vehicle and paid his respects by saluting.

“This is why I came home!” Ray-Tompkins wrote in her post. “Small towns that pull over and sit as your loved one is carried out of town to their resting place. The people on the streets even stood still as we passed.”

Within 17 hours of being posted, the photo has more than 1,500 likes, 500 shares and 140 comments.

We’re told the trooper in this picture is Senior Trooper R.L. Paynter.
