Mayor Jean Stothert has taken to Facebook Sunday morning. She said several snow plows and trucks are out clearing off streets following the overnight snow storm.

In the post, Mayor Stothert said in addition to city crews on main and secondary streets, there are 20 private companies under contracts who have 175 additional trucks out for neighborhood plowing.

Each contractor is assigned a specific zone in the city, and, by contract, each company has 18 hours to complete the work when four to eight inches of snow is on the ground, the mayor said.

In an earlier post, Mayor Stothert said full city crews will be out spreading salt behind contractors in residential areas, which should continue well into the night Sunday into Monday morning.

The mayor said everything should be completed prior to Monday morning’s rush hour.
