INSIDE CITY COURT JURORS FOUND GARY PIERRE GUILTY OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER WITH A WEAPON. THE VICTIM WAS CHRISTO MACCIUS, A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER IN BOCA RATON. MACCIUS WAS SHOT TO DEATH BACK 2016 LEAVING O’CONNOR’S PUB. DEPUTIES SAY A FLOOD OF TIPS AND CLUES ON SOCIAL MEDIA LED INVESTIGATORS TO PIERRE’S HOME. IN COURT RECORDS THEY SAY TH DISCOVERED A PAIR OF BLOOD STAINED BOOTS INSIDE THAT LED TO AN ARREST. THROUGHOUT THE TRIAL THE JURY WATCHED SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FRO THE PARKING LOT OF O’CONNOR’S WHERE PROSECUTORS ARGUED THAT WAS PIERRE RUNNING FROM THE CRIME SCENE. OUTSIDE OF THE COURT ROOM FAMILY AND FRIENDS WERE OVERWHELMED. THEY SHARED HUGS, CRIED, AND SOME EVEN WORE T-SHIRTS IN HONOR OF MACCIUS. THE LAST PERSON TO SPEAK WAS PIERRE. HE SAID HE DID NOT FEEL HE WAS GUILTY AND SENT HIS CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMIL

Jurors on Wednesday unanimously convicted Gary Pierre of first-degree murder with a firearm in the shooting death of a West Boca Raton substitute teacher and star football player. Soon after, City Court Judge Daliah H. Weiss sentenced Pierre to life in prison without parole. Maccius was shot in 2016 while leaving Oconnor’s Pub in Boca Raton. According to an arrest report, a flood of tips and clues on social media led investigators to Pierre’s home. There deputies said they discovered a pair of blood-stained boots inside that led to an arrest. During the trial, jurors watched surveillance video from O’Connor’s Pub that prosecutors argued that was Pierre running from the crime scene. Pierre sent his condolences to the family and said he’s not guilty. Pierre said he plans to appeal the verdict.
