WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) —  It’s a historic moment for the Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub.

The first all-female honor flight left from T.F. Green International Airport Saturday morning.

The organization brings veterans to the memorials that honor them in Washington, D.C.

Eyewitness News anchor Mike Montecalvo is traveling with them.

There are 44 female Rhode Island veterans making the trip. The women range in age from 35 to 96, and their service spans from 76 years to the present day.

They’ll reflect at the memorials built to honor their service, including at Arlington National Cemetery.
