DURHAM, N.C. — A man suspected of shooting another man inside his home Monday night turned himself in on Wednesday, according to the Durham County Sheriff's Office.

Alarius Montreal Liles, 27, was being held Thursday in the Durham County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 bond. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious bodily injury.

Brian Swaringen, 41, was inside a home in the 800 block of Hancock Street in Durham County when he was shot in the head, authorities said. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators did not publicly disclose what prompted the shooting or if the victim knew the suspect.

Liles has ties to the Mebane area and may have left Durham County, investigators said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Liles was asked to call Det. R.P. Lounsberry of the Durham County Sheriff's Office at 919-560-0900.
