RALEIGH, N.C. — Several trees fell across Raleigh early Tuesday morning, blocking roads and damaging cars.

Before 5 a.m., a large tree fell in a neighborhood at Harvey Street and Scales Street, near Glenwood Avenue and Wade Avenue, toppling power lines and damaging three cars, including a Porsche, according to Raleigh police.

It was not clear what caused the tree to fall.

Another downed tree was blocking Interstate 440 westbound near Western Boulevard before 3:45 a.m.

At 4 a.m., the entire westbound direction of I-440 was closed at Exit 1D for Melbourne Road while crews worked to remove a large tree, according to WRAL Joe Fisher. By 5 a.m., the tree had been pushed to the side of the road, and the lanes had reopened.

It was not clear when the tree would be removed altogether.

According to officers at the scene, two cars ran into the tree. No injuries were reported.
