RALEIGH, N.C. — They were lucky enough to snag tickets for Raleigh's popular Holiday Express months ago, but now plenty of families are wondering if it will go on as planned on Sunday thanks to the messy storm in the forecast.
A winter storm warning goes into effect at 1 a.m. Sunday for most counties in and west of the Triangle and remains in place until 7 p.m. Monday. A warning means that a high-impact event or life threatening conditions are occurring or will happen within 36 hours. Parts of Wake County could get 1 to 2 inches of snow. Sections of Durham and Orange counties could see as much as 8 inches.
City officials, according to the city's website, are monitoring the weather forecast and will inform ticketholders by 1 p.m., on the event day, if they plan on postponing the event and moving forward with a planned weather date.

"The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is closely evaluating weather conditions for the Holiday Express event at Pullen Park on Sunday, Dec. 9," the message said. "Should we decide to postpone, there are two identified weather dates: 12/10 and 12/17."

"Guests may only attend the designated rain date and tickets will not be honored on any other event night," the message says. "If you wish to attend the rain date, tickets will automatically be valid, and no further action is required. If you are unable to attend the assigned rain date and would like to request a refund, you must request a refund by emailing holidayexpress@raleighnc.gov. Your request must be received on or before the scheduled rain date."

Tickets for the Holiday Express sold out in less than an hour in July. The event started earlier this week and will run on select days through next weekend. The park is closed to the general public through Dec. 17.
