RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have arrested a man they said threatened someone with a box cutter to steal hamburger meat and steaks.

Joseph Edward Davis of Rocky Mount was arrested Thursday and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Police said in Davis’ arrest warrant that he tried to steal steaks and hamburger meat at a value of $156.30 from Laron Lawrence. They said he also threatened Lawrence with a box cutter.

Davis was also found with a glass pipe used as a smoking device “to introduce into the body a controlled substance other than marijuana.”

Davis was scheduled to be in court Friday.
