CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Augusta University women’s basketball team outscored Queens University of Charlotte 28-16 in the fourth period, but couldn’t pull off the comeback in a 68-62 non-conference loss in the Levine Center on Wednesday night.

The Jaguars led by five with 8:38 on the clock in the first period, until the Royals regained the lead on their home court. Queens was up 37-28 at halftime and jumped ahead big after a slow Augusta start in the second half. The Jags were held to six points in the third period, but the offense returned for the fourth period as AU outscored Queens by 12 in the final 10 minutes.

Three Jags turned in double-figure points with freshman Asia Harrison leading the team with 16, freshman Kiera Howard with 13, and junior Cameryn Wilson 11 points. Senior Brianna Middleton gave Augusta 12 rebounds and eight points and two steals.

Augusta scored 34 points in the paint to own a 10-point spread down low, while outscoring Queens 15-11 off turnovers. However, the Jags were cold from the three-point line and went 4-for-21 (19.0%) in the game.
