Augusta women's golf finishes 10th in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The Augusta University women’s golf team finished the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in 10th place on Tuesday afternoon at Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

The tournament was hosted by Purdue on the par-72, 6,164-yard course and No. 11 Kent State won the team title at 2-over-par. No. 7 Arkansas took second (+6), Virginia Tech third (+14), No. 13 Northwestern fourth (+15), and East Carolina grabbed fifth for the top scoring teams in the 14 team field.

The Jaguars shot 13-over-par in round two on Monday and were 25 shots above par after two rounds. Turning in their lowest round of the event, Augusta shot 6-over-par on Tuesday to seal 10th place.

Augusta junior Linda Lundqvist guided the team and took a tie for ninth overall (+2) after shooting her best round of 69 (-3) in the final day. Sophomore Teresa Diez-Moliner also fired a round-three 69 and tied for 27th (+7), junior Charlotte Alran tied for 40th (+9), freshman Natalia Yoko tied for 59th (+15), and senior Cecilia Diez-Moliner tied for 71st (+21).

The Jaguars compete at the Moon Golf Invitational Feb. 18-19 in Melbourne, Fla., at Duran Golf Club. The tournament is hosted by Louisville.
