UPDATE: 100 new jobs coming to West Virginia with new company

Gov. Jim Justice announced Thursday that one hundred technical job opportunities are coming to Charleston.

The tech company is called Infor, and its main function is to handle software within the cloud computing space. Infor headquarters are located in New York, but it’s a global company with more than 15,000 employees.

Once in Charleston, the company will run cloud applications for U.S. government agencies at all levels. The Infor office will be located on the sixth floor at the Laidley Building in Downtown Charleston.

Charleston Area Alliance President and CEO Matthew Ballard says the area is starting to see some cluster in tech companies which is a great thing. He says the more companies that come to the region, the more people will want to invest and move here.

Ballard says that anytime a company like Infor comes to the city it helps the local economy and since this is a global company, other companies will take note of that and hopefully spur an additional pipeline for other big companies.

Infor is already advertising jobs on their website www.infor.com and they will also be attending the upcoming Kanawha Valley job fair on March 22, located at the Coliseum and Convention Center.

One hundred new jobs are coming to West Virginia.

Global technology company, Infor, has announced it will open its first office in West Virginia in Charleston.

With the expansion of Infor, we can better attract other growing tech companies and show them why doing business in West Virginia is a great investment.”

Infor is a company that develops business cloud software, specialized by specific industries. The company's products are used in areas ranging from aerospace to manufacturing.

According to the Governor's office, the Charleston office will run cloud applications for local, state and federal government agencies and the contractors who support them.

Infor will hire 100 technical employees for specialized positions in software engineering, cloud operations and consulting and support services.

More jobs made be added as more customers come along.

Infor will partner with Marshall University in Huntington and West Virginia State University in Institute to develop a technical talent pipeline.
