SBA awards money to schools across West Virginia

The School Building Authority held their annual meeting to award money to schools across West Virginia.

Twenty-seven counties sent in requests for funding for various projects and renovations that totaled $135 million.

The SBA only had $46.5 million to award this year. They awarded funding to 19 counties.

Clay County was one of the counties to receive funds for Clay County High School. The project includes new windows, a new HVAC system, along with updating the restrooms, gymnasium, and locker room. The school also plans to update their security system.

Putnam County also received funding for renovations to Hurricane High School. The funds will be used in partnership with a local contribution of $500,000.

The following counties in the state also have been approved for funding:

Monroe, Fayette, Clay, Ohio, Mingo, Summers, and Upshur.
