MORE RAIN: Flash flood watch issued for much of metro as storms move through

ATLANTA — More rounds of rain moved through Georgia Wednesday night after metro Atlanta was slammed Tuesday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz said lightning and heavy rain moved into the metro area Wednesday night -- and more rain is expected Thursday. Nitz urged drivers to give themselves extra time during the morning commute.

Severe Weather Team 2's Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said the isolated heavy downpours across north Georgia were moving at 65 mph.

A Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday for much of north Georgia and metro Atlanta.

The watch issued for Barrow, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Hall, North Fulton, South Fulton, Banks, Jackson, Carroll, Coweta and Heard counties through 7 p.m. Thursday.

The chance of rain remains high through the weekend. As much as 4 inches of additional rain is possible.

Temperatures remained cold on Wednesday, in the 40s. But you can expect to feel a warmup Thursday and Friday as we will reach the 60s.
