The rain may be (mostly) over today, but storms are on the way

Flood Watch issued until 7 p.m. Friday

ATLANTA — Are you making weekend plans? Make sure those plans include either staying inside or packing an umbrella if you're going out.

The widespread heavy rain moved out of Friday night, but strong storms are expected to move in this weekend.

By Monday, Nitz says the sunshine should return. That warmer weather will continue into the weekend and next week.

Across north Georgia, flooding shut down roads Friday. At one point, at least 39 roads were impassible in Floyd County. At least one driver had to be rescued from his vehicle after trying to cross a flood barrier in Rome.

In Cobb County, a kids' camp shut down early because of rising waters. Parents rushed to pick their kids up as Sweetwater Creek breached its banks.
