Mississippi 19-year-old charged in Montgomery robbery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A 19-year-old Mississippi man is facing a felony charge for a Montgomery robbery.

According to Capt. Regina Duckett, Alex Mounger is charged with one count of robbery in the third degree.

Duckett says the robbery took place Friday around 11:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of Park Place.

According to the affidavit, the victim told officers she was walking down Park Place, headed to her vehicle, when a suspect approached her from behind and tried to snatch her purse. She then stated the suspect slung her to the ground as she was holding on to her purse. He then took her purse and ran away.

Duckett says the victim was not injured during the robbery.

Mounger was caught by officers shortly after while running back across the parking lot, the affidavit states.

Mounger was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility and placed under a $7,500 bond.
