Buckmasters returns to Montgomery Friday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The biggest hunting event of the year is headed to the capital city. The annual Buckmasters Expo starts this Friday at the Montgomery Convention Center in downtown.

There will be more than 300 exhibitor booths, young bucks kids activities, concerts and the top indoor world championships. Admission is free with a can of food.

It’s from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Expo is packed with entertainment from outdoors celebrities, the Top Bow World Championship and its $15,000 in prizes, and the new Buckmasters Collegiate Fishing Championships with a 4 p.m. Saturday weigh-in.

New this year, Buckmasters has partnered with the Montgomery Performing Arts Center to showcase top regional musical artists from Montgomery and Nashville in the River Region Review. Tickets are $20 for a one-day pass, $30 for both days, and are on sale at Ticketmaster and MPAC.

Saturday and Sunday, Bone Collector’s Michael Waddell and Virginia bowhunter Luke Brewster’s new world record 353 5/8-inch whitetail will be on display. The Illinois monster buck and Buckmasters Deer of the Year will be available for viewing Saturday and Sunday as well.

Hunters can bring their deer racks to be scored free of charge by Buckmasters Trophy Records master scorers.

On Saturday, meet and chat with outdoor celebrities Bill and Tyler Jordan, the guys from Small Town Hunting TV, Cody Kelly, Chris Ashley and Keith Burgess, and Shell Rotella Pro Angler Jimmy Houston.

Chase Elliott’s No. 9 NAPA Show Car will be on display, and the Harriott II Riverboat will be offering free rides Saturday and Sunday on the Alabama River. There’s a kid’s activity center for young bucks, and fun learning displays by the Alabama Extension Service.
