Why this South End brewery added a kitchen, in-house menu

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This South End brewery is now catering to its customers with in-house food offerings.

Lenny Boy recently finished construction on a roughly 400-square-foot kitchen that will serve its taproom and brewery at 3000 S. Tryon St.

That makes it possible to provide consistent food offerings for its clientele while having more control over the product, says Townes Mozer, Lenny Boy’s founder.

“We wanted to be able to express our passion on a plate as well as in a glass,” he says.

Lenny Boy already works with a number of local farms and purveyors on ingredients, from strawberries to lavender, for its brews and kombuchas. The kitchen allows the brewery to further align those efforts and expand into new areas, Mozer says.
