UPDATE: Suspect in alleged hit-and-run crash arraigned in Jackson County

UPDATE: 6/5/2020 2:44 P.M.

Anthony Slater has been arraigned in Jackson County Magistrate Court on a charge of malicious assault from Wood County. His bond was set at $200,000, which he was not able to post.

The Ravenswood Police Department arrested Slater early in the morning on June 5, though it is unknown how or why they originally came into contact with him. According to the Jackson County Magistrate's Office, Slater only faced the charge from Wood County when appearing in Jackson County Magistrate Court.

Slater has been accused of ramming his car into an ex-girlfriend's vehicle after spotting her driving around Vienna on June 3. Details of the incident can be found below.

UPDATE: 6/5/2020

Ravenswood Police have arrested 32-year-old Anthony Slater, of Elkview, West Virginia, who police say struck his ex-girlfriend's vehicle with his own in Vienna.

According to a news release from the Vienna Police Department, Slater allegedly chased his ex through the side streets of Vienna after seeing her driving through the area on June 3. He allegedly hit her vehicle with his, almost running her off the road. At one point, after hitting her vehicle, police say Slater exited his vehicle, climbed onto the hood of her car and struck its windshield with his hands and feet. The windshield broke and the broken glass injured the victim on the hand and elbow.

Police say the victim was then able to back away and escape the area. Slater allegedly continued the chase, but when Parkersburg Police found the victim on the 3100 block of Emerson Avenue, he had apparently left the area.

VPD obtained a warrant for Slater's arrest for "malicious assault."

Early in the morning of June 5, the Ravenswood Police arrested Slater. It's unclear how they came into contact with him. WTAP has reached out to RPD for more information on the arrest, and we are waiting on that information.

According to Vienna Police, Slater was taken to the South Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility for holding.

At the time of this article being written, he is awaiting arraignment.

UPDATE 6/3/2020: 7 P.M.

Vienna Police are looking for a suspect after an alleged domestic dispute involving a hit-and-run crash on a side street in Vienna.

Sergeant Gregory Britton with the Vienna Police Department said a subject saw his ex-girlfriend while driving and started ramming his vehicle into hers.

Police said at one point, the suspect was able to chase the victim down a dead end street where he exited his vehicle and started to punch the windshield of her vehicle. Brittion said the suspect punched and kicked the victim's car until she was able to get away from him and head toward Parkersburg.

Someone in Parkersburg recognized the victim's car from a description heard over their scanner and called it in. Parkersburg Police and Vienna Police were on Emerson Avenue in Parkersburg with the victim's vehicle around 5 p.m.

Vienna Police said they have a description of the suspect's vehicle and his name. Warrants are pending.

Police say the victim was released. No other details are available at this time. Stick with us as we learn more.

Police are investigating after an apparent hit-and-run crash on 29th Street in Vienna.

Vienna Police Mike Pifer said the crash happened in the 1800 block of 29th Street shortly before 4 p.m. and that Parkersburg Police later located a damaged vehicle belonging to a victim on Emerson Avenue near the Wood County and Parkersburg Public Library

No other details are available.
