Magnet schools are at the center of a lawsuit filed by the Connecticut Parents Union.

The lawsuit says magnet school racial quotas are unconstitutional.

State law requires all Connecticut inter district magnet schools reserve 25 percent of classroom seats for white or Asian students who choose to not attend inner-city magnet schools.

The  Connecticut Parents Union says that law unconstitutionally denies black and Hispanic children on the wait list access to spots in high quality magnet schools in their neighborhood.
